Carpentry & remodeling
in Raleigh, NC
North Carolina's capital, with in-town neighborhoods full of older homes and a fast-growing edge of newer construction on both sides of town.
Working in Raleigh
Raleigh is the farthest city on our regular route, and the projects we take there tend to be larger ones that justify the drive. Neighborhoods like Five Points, Hayes Barton, and Mordecai hold well-kept early-twentieth-century homes with original trim and hardwood floors, and the renovation and addition work in those areas has to hold up next to material that has already lasted a hundred years.
Additions on these older, narrower lots take more planning than a similar project on a newer suburban parcel, tying rooflines together, matching siding and trim profile, and working around mature trees and tighter setbacks. We spend more time in design and scoping on Raleigh additions for exactly that reason.
Newer parts of the city and its surrounding suburbs bring more straightforward work, deck construction, screened porches, window and siding replacement, and the fence installation that comes with subdivisions built on smaller lots close together.
Given the distance, we book Raleigh jobs as multi-day or full-week projects rather than short call-outs, and we put together a detailed written scope before committing a crew, so the trip is worth it for both sides.
